Citizenship Route ("we," "us," or "our") provides a U.S. citizenship test and civics practice application designed to help users prepare for the naturalization civics, reading, and writing tests.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the app may process, how that information is used, and how information is stored or shared when you use Citizenship Route.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
Citizenship Route stores certain app information locally on your device so that the app can remember your progress and preferences.
This may include:
- Civics test progress and scores
- Questions you have answered
- Selected quiz answers
- Questions marked as missed, mastered, or favorite
- Your place in practice, listening, and flashcard sessions
- Daily practice and streak information
- Reading and writing practice progress
- Your preferred civics test setting
- Whether initial profile setup has been completed
This information is stored locally using your device's local storage and is not, based on the current app implementation, uploaded to a Citizenship Route account or cloud database.
3. ZIP Code and Location Information
If you use the app's location-related features, you may enter a five-digit U.S. ZIP code.
The app may use that ZIP code to determine information such as your state and congressional district. The ZIP code may be sent to external geographic services to perform these lookups.
The location lookup service may return geographic information associated with the ZIP code, including state, state abbreviation, latitude, and longitude. The app uses this information to provide location-specific civics information.
4. Third-Party Services
Citizenship Route may communicate with third-party services when certain location or civic-information features are used.
Zippopotam.us
The app may send a ZIP code to Zippopotam.us to obtain geographic information associated with that ZIP code.
U.S. Census Geocoder
The app may use the U.S. Census Geocoder to determine a congressional district based on geographic coordinates associated with a ZIP code.
Congress.gov API
When congressional information is available through the configured API, the app may communicate with the Congress.gov API to retrieve information about U.S. senators and representatives.
These third-party services may have their own privacy policies and terms of use. Their handling of information is governed by their respective policies.
5. Information We Do Not Currently Require
The current app implementation does not require users to create a Citizenship Route account or provide information such as a name, email address, password, or phone number in order to use the core practice features.
The app does not currently use a Citizenship Route cloud account to synchronize your practice progress across devices.
6. How Information Is Used
Information processed by the app is used to provide and improve app functionality, including:
- Saving your practice progress and preferences
- Restoring your previous quiz and practice state
- Providing location-specific civics information
- Identifying relevant senators, representatives, and districts
- Supporting reading and writing practice
7. Data Security
Information stored locally by the app is subject to the security protections provided by your device and operating system.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information.
8. Children's Privacy
Citizenship Route is intended as an educational preparation tool for the U.S. citizenship naturalization process. We do not knowingly design the app to collect personal information from children.
